| Q: How does it work? A: The Smart Lid is infused with a colour changing additive, and when there is a change in temperature the lid responds byglowing red.  Q:What temperature does it change colour at? A: The lid starts to indicate a colour change from about 40C and is fully activated at 45C. Q: Is the colour changing additive on top of the lid or imbedded in the plastic? A: The thermochromic dye is imbedded in the plastic at the time of manufacture. Q: Is this colour changing technology safe to usewith food contact items? A: The colour changing technology is safe in foodcontact situations and the color changingadditive meets the requirements of the FDA asthey relate to direct food contact, eliminatingin-house testing. is the market ready for a color changing lid system?A: The past 10 years has seen a shift towards using customized packaging, particularly paper cups (and more recently double and triple layered paper cups) with printing and colored lids. The need to provide an industry standard temperature gauging system has been fast tracked by the associated safety concerns. The need to create a unique experience for customers is only possible through the introduction of interactive packaging, and customers can't get enough of innovation in packaging asthey have in the past 5 years. The market is ready for Color Changing Lids. Q: Does the color changing lid change back to its cold color? A: Yes it does. The lid is a visual indicator for the present temperature of thecontained liquids. Therefore as the beverage cools, the color of the lid willindicate this appropriately, and slowly change back to its cold state. Q: Is the color changing additive on top of the lid or imbedded in the plastic? A: The thermochromic dye is imbedded in the plastic at the time of manufacture.The lids are then made just as normal white lids or colored lids are made currently. A: The color changing technology is safe in food contact situations and is FDA food-contact compliant along with adhering to numerous other food and beverageguidelines.
